Odin managed to pull both you and Thor onto the remnants of the bridge. Tears were already burning your cheeks. You just laid on the ground, and cried. Odin came beside you, and picked you up, hugging you to him. “I know why you cry,” Odin whispers in your ear as Thor stands over the two of you. “They don't call me the All-Father for nothing.” All you can manage to do is nod. You're whole existence is crashing down around you, and you're falling apart. The worst part is that you knew something terrible was going to happen, and instead of confronting Loki about it, you betrayed him. You're blaming yourself, clinging to your father for dear life. “Sometimes,” Odin says just as quietly. “Doing the right thing is the hardest.” You hiccup, and you soon cry yourself to sleep. Thor carries you to your room.

*

It has been about a week since Loki died. Your father is having a feast in honor of Thor saving Asgard and Jotunhime, and Loki's untimely demise. You don't know how you managed to dress that morning, as you and Thor make rounds at the tables. You're dressed in a soft blue gown, and Thor is dressed like he normally is in armor, and the like. The two of you wander out to the balcony. He walks past your mother, and you stop to give her quick embrace that she returns. You turn around and walk to your brother and father as they look out the setting sun.

You approach, and stop on the other side of your father. “You will make a wise king,” Odin says to Thor. Thor glances as at you, before resting his gaze on your father.

“Not wiser than you, of course,” he responses solemnly. “Or a better father.”

Odin cracks a small smile, before finally resting his eyes on you. He half turns to Thor. “Let your sister and I have a moment, Thor.” Thor nods, before heading back to the banquet room.

You turn to your father. He continues to stare at the sun as it sets. You follow his gaze, and it finally hits you how much prettier the sky is in Asgard than on Earth. You wish Loki were there to watch the stars with you.

“How are you fairing?” You father asks. He rests a hand on your shoulder. You look at him. The past seven days have made you a zombie. You haven't cried since the bridge.

    “I-I don't know.” You admit.

Odin take his hand back. “I know the relationship Loki and you shared. I'm glad he had that before he died.” Odin looks out at the ocean, and the horizon. “(Y/N), you made his life better. I know in the end he thought you betrayed him, but I know he knew you still loved him.” You tear up, but are able to somewhat contain yourself this time. You tremble, but your tears are silent, and you're not hiccuping or sobbing.

Odin smiles sadly, and wraps an arm around your shoulder. “I know that at least one good thing came out of this ordeal. I got my daughter back. I wish I'd never let you go in the first place, (Y/N.)”

You nod, and bury your head into your father's shoulder. “You will mourn for a while; we all will, but we've all learned something from Loki. You learned what true love actually feels like, and I learned I should have paid more attention to Loki. I learned that I should be aware of when my children are hurting.” He kisses the top of your head. “Goodnight my child.” With that, Odin releases you, and heads towards the banquet all. You hug your arms, and step closer to the railing. The sun has finally left the sky, and you are left with the beautiful, colorful night sky of Asgard.

You crane your neck back, and still tears are falling down your face. You wipe some away, remembering how Loki did the day you realized who you were when he brought you back. You remember the way it felt to wrap your arms around him, and you close your eyes. To kiss him, and to just plane look at him is the only thing you want at the moment. It's the only thing you will ever want. You remember every contour of his face, and you open your eyes, looking up at the brightest star. “You're out there,” you croak. Your voice is hoarse as you shiver. The wind is slowly picking up, and the temperature is starting to drop slightly. “And I miss you so goddamn much.” You shiver, and hug your arms. “That promise you made me, it is void. You're the one who thought it wasn't. Father says, 'Sometimes doing the right thing is the hardest,' and I believe that Loki. I did the right thing, and you didn't see it.” You shake yourself as you feel your heart completely turn to dust. “Why does this have to hurt so much.” You turn around, and your big brother gives you hug.

“It's going to be okay, (Y/N),” he hushes you. “It's going to be okay.” The little hope left inside of you somehow believes him, and that's all you can cling to at the moment as Thor comforts you. Then it hits you. Roses symbolize love because of their thorns. The pain, and the passion. That's all there will ever be. Pain, and passion. You close your eyes, and picture him again. Hopefully he's happy whereever he is, you whisper and think to yourself. Hopefully he's happy.
